Cool vs. Cruel is a competition held by the Humain Society of The United States that encourages the use of products made with out animal furs and skins. The Competition is held For all fashion students that attend an Art Institute. The Contestants are given the choice between a group of high end designers that frequently have in the past or are currently using fur and skins in their collections. The idea is to take inspiration from these designers and create a garment that wouldf fit into one of their current collections that features animal fur or skin. By using fabric manipulation techniques the contestants can immitate the look and feel of an animal. These garments are then judged and prizes are awarded.
Infurpretation used the same concept from fall/winter 2014 ready to wear collections for students at the Art Institute of Vancovuer to Compete, to win a scholarship up to 500$

To create the look and texture of fur I took strips of trim and sewed it horizontally on the sleeves and back yoke. I than removed the line of stitching holding the trim ends tightly together. I first combed the entire sleeve with a regular hairbrush with soft bristles to loosen the yarn. I then went over it many many more times after with an animal grooming brush with stronger metal bristles to get a more fuzzy fur texture.
